Webinars are one of the most valuable tools available to you as a travel agent. They’re an extremely important part of your training and continued education, and the more you attend, the more confident and informed you’ll become.
Keep in mind, webinars are in addition to the supplier trainings you complete through their portals. For example, completing the Royal Caribbean University training is essential, but attending live Royal Caribbean webinars adds an entirely different layer of value and context.
Here’s why webinars are worth making time for:
Downloadable Resources
Many webinars include marketing materials, fact sheets, and visuals that you won’t find on supplier websites.
Visual Learning Opportunities
Take screenshots of slides or key visuals during the presentation. These can be great for marketing ideas or quick references later.
Insider Information
Presenters often share details you won’t see published yet. For example, upcoming promotions, new resort openings, or construction timelines. (No agent wants to accidentally send a client to a resort under renovation! It’s our responsibility to make sure clients are informed, and webinars are a great way to help us do that.)marketing ideas or quick references later.
Real-Time Q&A Access
If you’re currently booking that property or destination, this is your chance to get direct answers from the supplier. It’s also a great alternative if you’ve had trouble reaching someone by phone or email.
Professional Networking
Webinars are an easy way to connect with BDMs, property reps, and supplier contacts. Take note of who’s speaking, and use these sessions to update your contact list or CRM. You never know when you’ll need that connection later! They often give out contact information for other representatives as well!
Policy note: Always reach out to Agent Support BEFORE contacting your BDM. Most of the time, they will be able to answer your question or point you in the right direction.
So whether it’s one of our exclusive IV Agent webinars or a supplier session you find in your inbox or in the Webinar section of this newsletter, try to set aside at least one to two hours a week for your travel agent education.
And here’s a pro tip, register even if you can’t attend live. Most hosts will send you the replay link so you can watch when it fits your schedule. Isn’t that one of the best parts of being an independent travel agent? You get to learn and grow on your own time, from wherever you are!
