COSTA RICA TURNED OUT TO BE ONE OF THE YEAR 2004 FAVORED DESTINATIONS, January 10, 2005

The increase of airlines which approach the country turn the peaceful country with its natural ressources into one of the favored places in the world and a destination for adventure and ecotourism. The airlines mostly approach the international airports. Those disclose a steady rise of touristarivals from the United States, Kanada and, thanks to the non-stop-flights between Europe and Costa Rica, also from this continent. The magic combination of sun and beach, the volcanos, the wide variety of touristic activities, the infrastructure for a comfortable stay, the service of international quality and the “tico’s” cordiality turn the country into this little, idyllic haven for vacacions with the tropical climate’s vantages. Those points are added to the promotional and marketingefforts of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo. The institute invested 6.5 million dollars and supports additionally the privat sector in the regions priorised to archieve, that a larger number of tourists know Costa Rica and return with good reccomendations. The respectable magazine “Recommend”, one of the most read magazines by employees of travel agencies, awarded a prize to the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo for the Latinamerica-wide best promotion of the country. The minister of tourism Rodrigo Castro appreciated the effort, which was made in order to amplify the supply of the places, which are visited by the tourists and the approvement of the infrastructure of the international airports and Limón’s port. Costa Rica is known as a green country which protects it’s natural ressources. It is a destination which stay in fashion since it is beeing promoted without any atificial ingredients.

 

NEW AIRLINES ARRIVING TO THE COUNTRY

Starting December 18th the airline Air Canada will begin direct flights between Costa Rica and Canada, which will arrive to the Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia. According to Rodrigo Castro, Minister of Tourism, starting December 19th, the Canadian airline Sundwing will do, also. The frequency of arrival of these flights will be once a week, directly from Toronto. “With these flights we intend to induce the traffic of tourists between both countries”, indicated Rodrigo Castro.

NEW DIRECT FLIGHT FROM SAN JOSE TO CHICAGO

United Airlines offers daily flights from San José (Costa Rica) to Los Angeles, via Guatemala, and direct, non-stop, to the American capital, as well as now, with a new frequency to the city of Chicago, the most important in the center of the United States. For the first time there will be a route between this important business center and the Juan Santamaría International Airport. The direct, non-stop flight to the Chicago O´ Hare International Airport in Illinois will be offered Saturdays on a Boeing 757 with capacity for 182 passengers. The Chicago O´ Hare Airport is the second largest airport in the world, in terms of passengers' traffic. “We consider the center of the United States, Chicago especially, to represent a strategic point for many holiday travelers who are looking for the tourist offer supplied by Costa Rica”, expressed Fred Thome, General Manager of the airline in the country.
