What to Do - Rio de Janeiro
 


Rio de Janeiro, capital of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and also Brazil's capital from 1763 to 1961, is nestled between the mountains and the sea. Its magnificent shoreline includes charming bays and beautiful beaches, dotted with islands up and down the coast. Flying into Rio is a beautiful sight, whether it be at night or during the day, the visitor quickly finds out why Rio is known as the Wonderful City. The center for art and fashion. New styles and clothing concepts are always available in Ipanema's elegant stores and boutiques.

Corcovado - We will drive to one of the older parts of Rio called Cosme Velho, from where we take the train to the Corcovado mountain with the gigantic statue of Christ the Redeemer (2.300ft above sea level). A modern Swiss-made cogwheel rail climbs the mountain from its base at 15 meters almost to the summit at 710 meters. The trip up takes 17 minutes approx, at a maximum speed of 15km/h. The trip down takes 22min. At a speed of 12km/h.

Gafieira night w/dinner
- A "GAFIEIRA", (guy-fee-air-a) is a Brazilian dance hall, one of the country's most beloved and popular forms of entertainment. Visit the oldest dance in Rio, a simple place located on a historic downtown square, and sway to the Brazilian Big Band sounds of mache, bossa nova, samba, lambada and more. Start with dinner at a Barbecue restaurant.

Hippie Fair
- Visit to hippie fair where you can find Brazilian handicrafts products and souvenirs. On sundays only.

Macumba
- Visit to a typical temple, where passengers can learn and see a little bit of this exotic religion, brought to Brazil from the Africans slaves. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only.
Duration:  4 hrs


Petropolis
- Petrópolis is located in the Mountain region (Serra dos Orgãos) of Rio de Janeiro State, 1hour from Rio. Known as the Imperial City, for it was chosen at the time of Brazil’s monarchy to be the summer residence of the Emperor of Brazil - Pedro II. We will visit the Imperial Museum, old summer residence of the imperial family during the 19thCentury.The Crystal Palace and the Sao Pedro de Alcantara Neolithic Cathedral. Lunch can be included upon request. Everyday except on Mondays.
