Brasília - Capital of Brazil, has a unique and harmonious architecture, planned by the world famous architects Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. It is a futuristic city in the midst of unspoiled nature. Brasília has a number of excelent hotels and restaurants that invite you to come and to enjoy it.

Florianópolis - Capital of the State of Santa Catarina, the link to the mainland is made easily via two public bridges one of which is Brazil's largest suspension bridge. The island is a large beach community. In addition to the bay and ocean beaches, there is also a large lagoon - Lagoa da Conceicao - several exhilarating vistas from hillside overlooks and the preserved remain or ruins of three old fortifications from the colonial period. The shoreline is divided into three sections: north, south and east coasts.

Fortaleza - Capital of the State of Ceara, has its perennial sunshine and sensual beach life style, but it also has a special inner-city rhythm. At the far end of the beach the "jangada" fishermen land their rafts every afternoon and unload the day's catch. The closest good swimming is at the "Praia do Futuro" and farther south is the fishing village and weekend resort of Prainha. The sweetest swimming within a reasonable distance is to the north, in Cambuco. The more remote beaches, like Jericoacoara, are many hours to the north.

João Pessoa - Capital of the State of Paraiba, spreads over a flat coast with few tall buildings and many streets of private houses. First and foremost Joao Pessoa is a delightful beach town. A charming of sweeping coves called "enseadas" form an ocean beachfront 23 km long. Closest to the downtown is Tambau city, which anchors one end of the urban beach and flows southward to the more unpopulated strands, like Cabo Branco, where a lighthouse marks the overlook at Ponta do Seixas, the most eastern landfall in the Western Hemisphere.

Natal
- Capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, has extraordinary beaches with tiny fishing villages. The most sought-after beaches are Genipabu and Cotovelo. There also freshwater beaches along the Potengi River and its falls. The Reis Magos Fort has on one side strong waves crash against the rock on which the fort is built. On the other side, the beach and reefs form a gigantic, natural aquarium. It is definitely worth a visit.

Recife - Capital of the State of Pernambuco, is known as the "Brazilian Venice" because of its many canals and waterways and innumerable bridges that span them. It is the major gateway to the Northeast, with regular flights to all major cities in Brazil as well as Lisbon, London and Frankfurt. International cuisine is available as well as succulent fish dishes typical of the region. Fresh coconut water is found anywhere. Close by is Piedade Beach and further out, the unspoiled beaches of Tamandare, Sao Jose da Coroa Grande, Maria Farinha and Porto de Galinhas. The sun shines brighter in Recife the anywhere else and Recife's beaches are undoubtedly among the loveliest in the Northeast.

Salvador - Capital of the State of Bahia, was also Brazil's capital until 1763. The "Lower City" is at sea level and contains the old port and the commercial area where visitors will find a complete and varied assortment of Brazilian arts and crafts at the Modelo Market. The best place to witness a demonstration of "capoeira", a martial art developed by African slaves in Brazil, a folklore tradition. The "Upper City" can be reached by alleyways or the famous Lacerda Elevator. There are old government buildings, museums, churches and newer architecture.
