Carnival in SSA is one week of party!! Salvador has about 2 million inhabitants, being the 3rd largest city in Brazil after Sao Paulo and Rio. Most of these people are descended from the mixture between black, white and indians. They are a very friendly people, who are very welcoming to outsiders. During Carnival, the party goes with Streets Carnival Clubs, comanded by Carnival Bands, which are a must in Brazil popular music. Normally, SSA has 7 days of Carnival, beginning on Thursday to the following Wednesday. These are the key words from Carnival at Salvador. Get to know what they mean.

Blocos - The Blocos are formed by a giant sound car that carries the band called Trio Eletrico and a support car with bathrooms, drinks and medical assistance. The Bloco is surrounded by a rope guarded by almost 1000 security members specially oriented to protect people inside (associate) and keep non authorized people from getting in. Each Bloco getter almost 300 people that are easily identified by their uniform called Abada. The trios parade surrounded by the associates. The singers and the band sing along the Avenues of Salvador with a very exciting crowd, dancing and having fun.

Trio Elétrico - The Trio elétrico is a huge truck fully equiped with sound systems and a band with the bahia main singers. The car covers 6km driving in 2km/hour speed in Carnival in Salvador!! There are two routes for these Clubs: From THU to SAT, the alternative Street Clubs take place in Barra Avenue until Ondina, going along the coast of the most beautiful beaches in Salvador (takes around 4 hours to complete the route). The participants have a colorful costum, which is a T-shirt and bermudas, and follow the band all over the route). From SUN to TUE, the Principal Street Clubs take place in the Principal Avenue downtown. This route is longer, taking about 9 hours to be completed. . Energy is something really important !!!

Support Car - It is also a large truck used to give any support necessary
to the associates. It offers:
- A snack bar;
- Bathrooms;
- Medical assistance;
- Vip stand.

Choosing your Trio Elétrico - You may choose your Trio considering the following tips:
- Main bands: Chiclete com Banana, Banda Ara Ketu, Ricardo Chaves, Netinho, Ivete Sangalo, Banda Beijo, Dr. Cevada, A Zorra e Jammil.
- Routes: Barra/Ondina or Avenida Principal.
- Days: Thursday, Friday or Saturday - or traditional - Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
- Departure time schedule
- Price of the Abada.
Abadás - The abadá is the most important thing for Carnival in Salvador. The Abada is your custum, your free pass to go in and out the choosen trio. The unique way to identify the associates usually dressed with colorful costum, which is a T-shirt and Bermudas. Each associate receives 01 Abada for a specific day and each abada is different from the other.
The Abada is inspected by the security agents and has to have the security symbol on. People without the security symbol on the Abada will not be authorized to get go along with the Trio elétrico.

Tips - Carnival in Salvador is very safe, however we have a few suggestions for you:
- Bring only small cash amounts.
- Always bring and Identification card, and the phone number of your hotel.
- Use confortable shoes.
- Tray to walk with a group of friends.
- Don’t bring camera or camcorders.
- Drink a lot of water.
- The best Band for tourists is Olodum, because it is well-known all over the world for its beat.
